New Semester Update!

     Hey Fashion Club!

     I hope you guys had an awesome break and are ready to really get this club going during this new semester. :)

     On Thursday, 1/10 (the first meeting of the semester!) will start with the presentation of our very own FIDM Starters kit! It came in right before we let out for break and I can't wait to show you guys some of the awesome stuff that came with it.

     Secondly, we need to set up the winter clothes drive so that it can start by next week. If you all have any big boxes at home please let me know before Thursday. I will leave my cellphone number and email address below for you to contact me if you have any big (preferably around 3-4ft tall and wide) boxes. 
     Otherwise, it would be great if everyone could bring in blue, silver, or white wrapping paper, Styrofoam snowflakes, glitter, or any other winter-ey decorations for the boxes.
     Above all, don't be afraid to contribute any other ways we can make this project more appealing Let your creativity shine!

Last but not least, if you all could please fill out the following survey about the upcoming Debut Runway Show, it would be greatly appreciated. (^_^)b

[UPDATE] FBLA Fashion Show Postponed... again!

Hey guys!

[IMPORTANT] Mrs.Render talked to me today and the FBLA Fashion Show is once again postponed until after the Christmas Break!!

Apparently the basketball game was moved to Thursday, due to the football playoffs on Friday, and since at least 6 of the models are cheerleaders, and Mrs.Render is also the head of the NCHS Basketball Cheerleaders, this Thursday would not have worked out for the fashion show.

Fortunately! This gives us even more time to make this show the best North Cobb has ever seen ;)

All this being said, I'm sure you guys have already figured out that there will be no Fashion Show practice tomorrow, 11/28,  and we will have a regular meeting this Thursday, 11/29.

 See you guys then!

11/1/12: I Hope Everyone Had Fun Today!

Hey, Fashion Club!

What did you guys think about today's club? I know it was a little hectic at times, but I hope you guys at least learned a lot about drawing fashion-model proportions.

Honestly, you guys did an amazing job drawing your models, so don't think otherwise, ok? If you are still feeling frustrated, don't! I know how you feel, and just remember: nobody draws a complicated figure like that perfectly the first time! Ever heard of the term "practice makes perfect"? ;)

Anyways, below is the tutorial we drew from, as well as the link to the Artist's website, where you can find more fashion illustration videos and exercises. I don't know if you guys heard me say this today, but in the future, If you want help drawing a specific thing pertaining to fashion, follow the tutorial at home first and then bring it to club, so we can work on it. Do you guys like this format? If you can think of other ways to make these drawing tutorials less hectic, please comment and let us all know!

[UPDATE] For those who were not here today, here is the updated information regarding the FBLA Fashion Show: 

The show will be held on Thursday, November 29th, at 7pm. All models need to attend the dress rehearsal which will take place on that Wednesday, the 28th. Models will get 8 V.I.P. tickets and the Student Section tickets are still $2. Prizes still include free photo shoots and modeling lessons, as well as scholarships and a chance to get signed with a professional modeling agency. For more information, please contact Mrs.Render in room #2110.

Last but not least!!

I will be sending off the FIDM application tomorrow {this weekend the latest}, so if you have any last minute ideas as far as activities, community service projects, fundraisers, and advertisements for our club PLEASE let me know. We want FIDM to recognize our club's full potential!

[UPDATE] FBLA Show, 11/1/12 Meeting Agenda, and a splash of Fashion Week 2012!

Hey everyone!

[IMPORTANT] If you haven't heard, the FBLA Fashion Show is postponed until further notice, so we will have regular club tomorrow!! I will update everyone as soon as I hear more from Mrs.Render.

Tomorrow, November 1st, we will have meeting in the usual place {which, if you are not sure is Mrs.Render's room, #2110 in the freshman academy}.

We will finish up the fashion model drawing tutorial we had last week and {maybe} learn how to draw the face and different poses. Sound good?

Also, we have to pick our club Treasurer tomorrow so that I can complete and send the FIDM Club application out by Friday. If you want to be Treasurer, but you are not at club tomorrow, there's a slim chance that you will be able to hold the position, since we need someone that will be at most {if not all} meetings. If you don't get picked, though, don't worry! We need alternates as well, so you may be able to hold one of those positions. :)

But wait.... there's more!

The Mercedes-Benz Fashion week for Spring 2013 just happened a few weeks ago, and, sadly, most of us {including myself} didn't make it... but don't worry! The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week YouTube channel posts videos of shows for those of us who couldn't make it to enjoy! :)

Below is a the full collection from designer Lela Rose. I will be the first to say, If this is what spring 2013 will look like, I can't wait! Watch below in awe as her collection flawlessly flows from earthy to vibrant to ultra-feminine. {Oh! And don't forget to look out for the fabulous color-blocked wedge-heels in the first half.. I think they are my new obsession (^_^) }

Hello!

I hope you enjoy your visit to the North Cobb High School FIDM Fashion Club's blog! Here we will post updates about Fashion Club events and meetings.

For our members, this blog will serve as a way to notify you of future meetings and remind you about upcoming occasions. For those have not joined Fashion Club yet, but are interested, this blog will inform you of our purpose and future goals as a club (make sure to visit the "What is FIDM Fashion Club?" page).
